So, I'm an intern teacher for a middle school English teacher. I teach the students about poetry, using personal examples and favorites of mine. They loved it. I teach the students about The Odyssey and each class we read bits using the popcorn method. All of my students are becoming excellent readers and they are starting to comprehend more as they progress in the novel. They are so proud, and their parents are as well. I constantly receive phone calls regarding the instant improvement their child is showing and how proud they are. The main teacher is starting to truly dislike me because of it... she never received the phone calls and the class was barely maintaining a C average... I feel horrible for taking the spotlight away, but can she really blame me for understanding the children more? I am only 18, and already the staff is including me as THE English teacher instead of the main teacher... It's two weeks until finals, and I'm fearful of the kids failing... Should I lay off and let her take over again?

I have just got myself a puppy however when I got it home I introduced it to my neighbours and one informed me that apparently I can't have a puppy in the flat? Even though I own the flat? There's this girl that I'm real good friends with that I've had a crush on for some time - I think she knows how I feel about her. Lately we've been hanging out a lot more and we have sort of hit it off, but I still don't think we were officially dating. She told me about a very casual relationship with a guy she had just met. She told me that it was totally not serious yet, and that she wasn't closing any other doors as far as dating was concerned. I think I'm the only guy she told this to, too. She also mentioned how she usually becomes friends with a guy before dating them. Monday night, I had finally worked up the nerve to tell her just how crazy I am about her, but before I could do that, she tells me that she's finally getting a few signs that this other guy may be serious. I don't quite know if she's serious about wanting to be exclusive to him yet, though (get conflicting signs there). I do know that this other guy does exist, so she's not making him up. But he lives hours away from us - they have a long distance thing going for now. We were supposed to go out to dinner tonight. Now, I know she had a very tight window since she has a lot of conference items to deal with, so she unfortunately had to cancel. Here was part of the message she sent me: "On my way back from the conference on friday, I'm going to do all the errands for the party - are you working? I thought maybe you'd want to come with me...I was thinking I'd pick you up and do some of the party errands then grab a bite somewhere." Is it too late if I were to still tell her how I feel about her? Or do I owe it to her and to our friendship to just back away at this point and let whatever happens between her and this other guy happen?

Hi, I have a quick question. The directions on my pattern state : With right sides together, pin lining to skirt at lower edge, matching centers and seams. Adjust gathers;baste. Stitch. Stitch again 1/4" away in seam allowance. Press seam toward lining. I know which is the lower edge of the skirt because both ends are gathered and the waist line is indicated. However on the lining only the top edge is gathered and the directions do not state if it is the lower or upper edge of the lining that is pinned to the lower edge of the skirt. I'm looking for some help figuring this out. Thanks.

That had you fuming when it happened but looking back now you see just how funny it really was? I put Elijah in his bed for a nap earlier and he laid there for about 10 minutes like normal, and then got up and was playing with his toys. We're trying the toddler bed, not working too well. That's what he usually does and the room is baby proofed, he's gated in so he's safe there alone. I kind of forgot to check the monitor for 10 minutes. Next time I looked, I didn't see him in the room. So I went upstairs and found the gate to his room open..... I guess I didn't close it all the way? We keep a second gate (That can't be opened) in the hall blocking off the teens' rooms and stairs, so all he could do was go into my room. I called his name and he walked out of my bathroom with a bottle of liquid foaming soap.... open... upside down.. and his clothes absolutely drenched in soap and what appeared to be toothpaste in his hair. (What the heck??) He was a mess to say the least. I walked into the bathroom to find that every bottle of soap that was under the sink open and dumped on the floor, some shampoo spilled, all of his baby wash on the floor, my shaving cream sprayed all over the inside of the cabinet, and the tubes of toothpaste squirted out all over the place. He's a smart kid, he knows how to unscrew lids, that's been his new thing to do, and he obviously figured out how to shaving cream works. I ran him a bath and while he was playing I had the joy of cleaning all this up. Trying to figure out how I'm going to tell the wife I managed to leave 22 month old alone up there to do all this. At least we keep all the dangerous stuff up in the cabinet above the sink, so he didn't get hurt...... We are definitely getting a cabinet lock next time we go out.

Nowadays, every decent person believes that slavery is wrong and immoral, and should never become legal again. So it's kind of redundant to call yourself an Abolitionist, since the goals of the Abolition movement have been achieved. If someone is concerned with the advancement, progression, education, etc. of people of color, you wouldn't call them an Abolitionist, but rather say that they are interested in cultural diversity and racial issues. Do you think the same is true for feminism? Feminism is defined as the belief that women and men deserve to have equal rights and opportunities,,which is something that every decent person believes nowadays. However, fifty years ago, many people and society as a whole did not support that belief, which is why feminism was necessary. Now that the original goals of the feminist movement have been achieved, do you think it's redundant to call yourself a feminist? Is is the equivalent of calling yourself an Abolitionist just because you believe in racial equality? If you are concerned with the advancement, progression, and education of women, do you think it would be more accurate to say you are interested in women's issues or gender issues? Or do you believe that some of the goals of feminism still haven't been achieved yet, and that there is still work to be done before women and men are on a completely equal level? This is my 4th and last child. We already have a girl and then 2 boys. I love all of my children but really wanted a girl. This baby was an accident, proof that birth control isn't 100%. So not only am I having to deal with baby coming earlier than I had planned, but today I found out he is definitely a boy. He's healthy and I know that's important, and I'm sure I'll grow to love him, but right now I am very disappointed. My husband didn't care either way, my daughter is disappointed she didn't get a sister and all I can think about is that my youngest boy is so much of a handful I don't know how I am going to cope if this baby is anything like him. I am trying to think positively but I really just want to cry. I am not looking forward to this baby at all, any advice on how to change my thinking? ok so heres my problem, im 19 years old, male, and i usually go to bed around 9-ish, later on weekends, like around 10ish, anyways when i go to bed i cant fall asleep easily, idk why. i lay there awake, i dont fall asleep until midnight. and when it's morning i dont want to wake up, on days i dont have to get up i wake up around 10am, but i still feel really tired. a couple of days ago i couldn't sleep and laid awake in my bed till like 2am, and i woke up feeling horrible, luckily i took a quick nap late that afternoon and felt little better. i dont understand why im not sleeping well. im usually asleep by 11 an di wake up around 8 or 9 if i feel like it, (im not a morning person regardless lol) so what's going on????? or could this be my Hormones acting up? i hear people my age, their hormones go crazy and get make you feel different, idk if thats true or not. so does anyone know what's wrong with me?

[ Religion & Spirituality ] Open Question : I want to be closer to god but I don't know how to do it by myself?

I was never baptized, my parents never made me go to church, I've been to church a few times as a child with my cousins, but never attended regularly. I want to confess and get baptised in the catholic church. But I just don't know how I do it. Do I call? Do I just randomly drive down to the church and there will be someone there to help me? I just feel like my parents will think I am crazy. They both believe in god and my dad was raised catholic. My mom was not baptized or went to church, but she believes in god as well. What steps do I have to take to go to a confessional, and to get baptized? I heard that you have to take a few classes. I believe in God, and I want to make sure I feel like I did something so that god knows I believe in him.

[ Religion & Spirituality ] Open Question : With all the various religious folks yammering for us to believe them, how do you suggest we sort you out?

How do you religious folks propose we heathens decide which of you guys can be treated as white noise, and which ones we need to heed? Pretty much all of you have the exact same type of "evidence" to support your claims. Each group claims to have the only real texts from a god or gods that tells what to do and believe. You all have your stories about miracles and other magic things your gods do for you. How can you be sorted out in any objective manner? Until there is a clear answer, shouldn't we pretty much treat you all as equals? Whether you are shouting Bible verses from a street corner with a sign that says "THE END IS NEAR", or whether you are running a soup kitchen and just letting people know "Jesus loves you", you pretty much all give us nothing but your unsupportable assertions to go by.

I know this seems kinda weird and crazy, but I am a huge fan of the British boy band The Wanted and I am dying to know when this summer they are coming to America. Anyone know? A little over a month ago I started running into problems accessing a few websites. I can go to youtube, but if I go to any individual video it's blocked. Tumblr is blocked. I don't know why this is happening, but it's getting pretty obnoxious. At first I thought it was a problem with Java or Javascript, but I checked and it turns out I'm up to date on both of those and I have them enabled. Does anyone have any suggestions, or maybe any guesses as to why this would have started in early April? Thanks.
