[ Maintenance & Repairs ] Open Question : Could this be a fuel line problem?

Posted: 16 Jul 2011 07:21 PM PDT

Car which usually starts on the first turn of the key now takes several turns. It then idles very roughly at around 500 rpm before settling into a pattern of rhythmic "reving" between 500 and 1000rpm. When the accelerator is depressed the rpm, of course, increases and levels off, but when it is released it returns to a 500, then 1000, then 500rpm rhythm. Could this be caused by a partially clogged fuel line and/or filter? Thanks in advance for any suggestions!

Posted: 16 Jul 2011 07:21 PM PDT

I just got some tea from davids tea called "the skinny" and this is what written on it: 2000 years of ancient chinese wisdom suggest you try this organic blend. it contains oolong and pu'er teas, both reputed to speed up your metabolism and block fat absorption after a heavy meal. plus its got ginger and ginsing, two more traditional metabolism uppers. So go ahead, drink up. Thing only thing you'll gain is wisdom." Does this actually work? please back up your answers with facts or personal testimony, saying "you don't believe in it because it doesn't sound legit" doesn't count as an answer! THANKS!!

[ Books & Authors ] Open Question : Writers: How much has your writing changed since you first began?

Posted: 16 Jul 2011 07:20 PM PDT

Well, I asked this literally a few seconds ago, but somehow it got reported (not that I see it as going against Yahoo rules, would someone correct me if I'm wrong? If so, don't report it so I know and I will happily delete it myself. Though, I'm pretty sure it's a troll) Anyways, How much has your writing changed/improved since you first began? This is inspired by the fact I just found copies of my old stories, which are technically the original version of my story now, only I've been developing it for the last four years. My answer, if anyone cares: I had terrible grammar. Instead of than I used then, instead of know/knew I used now/new. I had wrong punctuation and I didn't realize that paragraphs existed :P Story wise I kind of had a plot, I stupid one, but a plot nonetheless. However, all my characters were Mary Sues and were based on me and my friends. The main male's personality was only shown through what people said about him ("He's stubborn!"...then he didn't act like it.) Th dialogue was awful and at one point a few characters were talking about something important, and one of them just changed the subject. Half way through what I wrote I decided to change the plot. The male MC was a slave for an entire village as punishment for stealing (I know...doesn't make sense...it was in another world/country at least, that'd be odd in America...) but then I thought it'd be a good idea if he was the slave for the villain, only, that would change everything I already wrote. Instead of editing (in my defense, it was handwritten...and I was 12 and lazy) I just randomly had the villain save him, then he randomly became his slave. Sorry if it's kind of long, I sometimes babble on :P BQ: Is there anything in your original writing that's the same as your current story? BQ2: How old were you when you started writing? (I mean stories, not writing in general)

[ Politics ] Open Question : Where is the middle class?? Are we really in a recession still or is this period an antecedent depression?

Posted: 16 Jul 2011 07:20 PM PDT

• 83 percent of all U.S. stocks are in the hands of 1 percent of the people. • 61 percent of Americans "always or usually" live paycheck to paycheck, which was up from 49 percent in 2008 and 43 percent in 2007. • 66 percent of the income growth between 2001 and 2007 went to the top 1% of all Americans. • 36 percent of Americans say that they don't contribute anything to retirement savings. • A staggering 43 percent of Americans have less than $10,000 saved up for retirement. • 24 percent of American workers say that they have postponed their planned retirement age in the past year. • Over 1.4 million Americans filed for personal bankruptcy in 2009, which represented a 32 percent increase over 2008. • Only the top 5 percent of U.S. households have earned enough additional income to match the rise in housing costs since 1975. • For the first time in U.S. history, banks own a greater share of residential housing net worth in the United States than all individual Americans put together. • In 1950, the ratio of the average executive's paycheck to the average worker's paycheck was about 30 to 1. Since the year 2000, that ratio has exploded to between 300 to 500 to one. • As of 2007, the bottom 80 percent of American households held about 7% of the liquid financial assets. • The bottom 50 percent of income earners in the United States now collectively own less than 1 percent of the nation's wealth. • Average Wall Street bonuses for 2009 were up 17 percent when compared with 2008. • In the United States, the average federal worker now earns 60% MORE than the average worker in the private sector. • The top 1 percent of U.S. households own nearly twice as much of America's corporate wealth as they did just 15 years ago. • In America today, the average time needed to find a job has risen to a record 35.2 weeks. • More than 40 percent of Americans who actually are employed are now working in service jobs, which are often very low paying. • or the first time in U.S. history, more than 40 million Americans are on food stamps, and the U.S. Department of Agriculture projects that number will go up to 43 million Americans in 2011. • This is what American workers now must compete against: in China a garment worker makes approximately 86 cents an hour and in Cambodia a garment worker makes approximately 22 cents an hour. • Approximately 21 percent of all children in the United States are living below the poverty line in 2010 - the highest rate in 20 years. • Despite the financial crisis, the number of millionaires in the United States rose a whopping 16 percent to 7.8 million in 2009. • The top 10 percent of Americans now earn around 50 percent of our national income. With a quick look at Hoover's, Dun & Bradstreet and The Forbes 400 the evil rich, their corporations, their lawyers and all else who support them are all like minded, liberal thinking, left leaning citizens not conservatives. "All the extravagance and incompetence of our present government is due, in the main, to lawyers, and, in part at least, to good ones. They are responsible for nine-tenths of the useless and vicious laws that now clutter the statute-books, and for all the evils that go with the vain attempt to enforce them. Every Federal judge is a lawyer. So are most Congressmen. Every invasion of the plain rights of citizens has a lawyer behind it. If all lawyers were hanged tomorrow, and their bones sold to a mah jong factory, we'd be freer and safer, and our taxes would be reduced by almost half." I LOVE NUMBERS!! Not just is it the best thing ever but they NEVER lie! Well I didn't come up with all of this... Just 64.1283715% The remaining 35.8716285% was research. I kind of wish I was a statistician instead!

[ Cell Phones & Plans ] Open Question : Do I have to extend my contract to upgrade my Verizon LG enV touch? Is it better to get it thru Verizon or...?

Posted: 16 Jul 2011 07:20 PM PDT

through wireless.amazon.com? I had a basic flip phone, then changed from that to my sister's old enV touch when mine broke. I have an upgrade available, but I definitely don't want to pay for a data plan, so I was thinking about upgrading to the Cosmos Touch. I went to the Verizon store to look at that phone and others, and they said that with the upgrade, it would cost $59.99. 1. How long will the upgrade extend my contract for (I'm on a family line with my 2 parents and 1 sister, will it affect their upgrades/contracts/etc. at all, either?)? 2. I noticed that at wireless.amazon.com, the Cosmos Touch is only $0.01. Is it worth getting it through there?

I would just like to know the stories behind these types of names, and how the format of it all came to be. Please Explain, Thankyou.
