MONTHLY ENERGY REVIEW JUNE 2011 RELEASE — June 28, 2011
Summary data on energy production, consumption, stocks, trade, and prices
The June 2011 Monthly Energy Review (MER), EIA's primary report of recent energy statistics, was released on June 28, 2011. Preliminary data on commercial sector energy consumption indicate that for March 2011:
· U.S. commercial sector total energy consumption equaled 1.5 quadrillion Btu, a 4% increase from March 2010.
· Electricity retail sales and electrical system energy losses accounted for 71% of commercial sector total energy consumption.
· Natural gas accounted for 24% of commercial sector total energy consumption, petroleum accounted for 4%, and renewables accounted for 1%.
The MER provides monthly and annual data on total energy production, consumption, and trade; energy prices; overviews of petroleum, natural gas, coal, electricity, nuclear energy, renewable energy, and international petroleum; carbon dioxide emissions; and data unit conversions.
