13 KY Counties Eligible for FSA Emergency Loans

(LEXINGTON, July 11, 2011) - On June 23, 2011, President Obama declared 32 Indiana counties as disaster areas due to damages and losses caused by severe storms, tornadoes, straight-line winds and flooding that occurred on April 19, 2011, and April 22, 2011 through May 2, 2011, and flooding resulting from those storms beginning on April 19, 2011, and continuing.

As a result of the declaration, 13 Kentucky counties were named as contiguous counties where eligible family farmers may qualify for FSA EM loan assistance pursuant to Section 321(a) of the Consolidated Farm and Rural Development Act. Those counties are: Boone, Breckinridge, Carroll, Daviess, Gallatin, Hancock, Hardin, Henderson, Jefferson, Meade, Oldham, Trimble, and Union.

EM loan applications for physical and production losses will be received through February 23, 2012, and applications pending on that date may be processed and completed.

Farmers interested in applying for assistance should contact their local FSA county office.
