Five KY Counties Eligible for FSA Emergency Loans

(LEXINGTON, July 5, 2011) --- On June 7, 2011, President Obama declared 14 Illinois Counties as disaster areas due to damages and losses caused by severe storms and flooding that occurred on April 19, 2011, and from April 22, 2011, through May 2, 2011, and flooding resulting from those storms beginning on April 19, 2011, and continuing.

As a result of the declaration, five Kentucky counties were named as contiguous counties where eligible family farmers may qualify for FSA EM loan assistance pursuant to Section 321(a) of the Consolidated Farm and Rural Development Act. Those counties are: Ballard, Crittenden, Livingston, McCracken and Union.

EM loan applications for physical and production losses will be received through February 7, 2012, and applications pending on that date may be processed and completed.

Farmers interested in applying for assistance should contact their local FSA county office.
