  USAID and French Government Form the Ouagadougou Cooperation
The French Government invited representatives from USAID and other donors to meet in Paris on July 21–22 to concretize joint actions of the Ouagadougou Cooperation in addressing the high levels of unmet need for family planning in eight Francophone West African countries. The partnership grew out of a successful conference called Population, Development, and Family Planning in French- Speaking West Africa: An Urgency for Action, which was held in February in Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso. Effective Community Approaches to Family Planning Conference
More than 150 professionals, representing 13 countries in Africa (including the newest country in Africa, the Republic of South Sudan), attended the Effective Community Approaches to Family Planning Conference, which was held on July 25–29, in Nairobi, Kenya. Read more...

  USAID and UNFPA Strategize Joint Efforts
On July 11, USAID’s Director of the Office of Population and Reproductive Health Dr. Scott Radloff met with UNFPA Executive Director Babatunde Osotimehin to chart new areas for collaboration and tactics for bringing greater attention to reproductive health. A few strategies identified included strengthening partnerships and collaborations at the country level, developing a more concrete plan for country collaborations in countries where USAID and UNFPA share family planning programmatic priorities, and sharing lessons learned and research.

Curious about what’s new and happening in family planning program research?  The High Impact Practices working group in USAID’s Office of Population and Reproductive Health is here to help!  In each “PRH Connect” issue we will help answer your family planning programming woes with information on High Impact Practices (HIPs) that can help improve your family planning program.  We will summarize the evidence base, share lessons learned from proven approaches, and update you on emerging practices. Like multipurpose contraceptives and mobile phone technology—how strong is the evidence? New Resources

Community-Based Access to Injectables Toolkit
The USAID-funded project K4Health has launched the Community-Based Access to Injectable Contraceptives Toolkit designed to strengthen the capacity of advocates, program managers, policymakers, and donors to implement, evaluate, promote, and scale up CBA2I programs.

Family Planning/Reproductive Health Indicators Database
The Family Planning/Reproductive Health Indicators Database, designed by the USAID MEASURE Evaluation project, aims to increase the monitoring and evaluation capacity, skills, and knowledge of those who plan, implement, and monitor and evaluate family planning/reproductive health programs worldwide.


Healthy Timing and Spacing of Pregnancy Global Health eLearning Course
USAID’s Global Health eLearning Center has a new eLearning course on the Healthy Timing and Spacing of Pregnancy (HTSP).


Population, Health, and Environment (PHE) Youth Peer Education
The USAID-funded BALANCED Project developed the “Youth Peer Education: A Guide for Training Youth Peer Educators Working on PHE Activities” designed for facilitators who train PHE Youth Peer Educators as part of the PHE project activities.
