Missouri Farmers Reminded to File Annual Acreage Reports
(COLUMBIA, Mo.) – Missouri producers have until July 31 to submit annual acreage reports to their local county Farm Service Agency (FSA). In addition, due to Missouri’s many disaster conditions creating delays in planting, the date to timely report prevented planting was extended to July 31 to coincide with the crop reporting deadline. Since July 31 falls on a Sunday, acreage reports will be considered timely filed if done before close of business on Aug. 1.
Edward Hamill, executive director of Missouri FSA said July 31st is the last day for producers to report all crops, other than small grains, and any acreage in the Conservation Reserve Program (CRP). Crops enrolled in the Noninsured Crop Disaster Assistance Program (NAP) must be reported by July 31 or 15 days before harvest of the crop. Crops that have not been planted by the final reporting date, must be reported to FSA by 15 calendar days after planting to be considered timely filed.
“Accurate acreage reports are necessary for program eligibility for many of FSA’s programs,” Hamill said. “To maintain eligibility, and to avoid paying a late fee, producers are encouraged to make an appointment to do their acreage report immediately.”
Late-filed provisions may be available to producers who are unable to meet the reporting deadline as required. Reports filed after the established deadline must meet certain requirements to be accepted and may be charged late fees.
