“Filing an accurate and timely report for all crops and land uses, including prevented planting and failed acreage, can prevent loss of benefits for a variety of Farm Service Agency programs,” Deschamps said of the annual reporting to FSA known as crop reporting, acreage reporting or crop certification. "We highly encourage producers to report their crops on or before the July 15th deadline to avoid late fees and a potential loss of future benefits and maintain program compliance.”

Montana FSA reminds producers of upcoming 2011 Acreage Reporting/Crop Certification July 15 deadline
Bozeman, July 1, 2011 - Montana agricultural producers are reminded that the July 15th upcoming deadline to report acreage and certify crops to the FSA county office is fast approaching, USDA Montana Farm Service Agency (FSA) Acting State Executive Director Richard "Dick" Deschamps said today.
All cropland on the farm or ranch must be reported to FSA to receive program benefits. In addition, some of the disaster programs require that all native or improved grass that will be hayed or grazed to be reported. The certification form FSA-578, Report of Acreage, must account for all cropland or non-cropland on a farm depending on the various program requirements, whether idle or planted. The producer certification deadline for all Montana crops is July 15.
