I am a High School English Teacher. I don't remember grammar being a major focus when I was in high school but, after 3 years of teaching on the high school level, I see that many of my students have no clue why the sentences they are putting together are grammatically incorrect. I teach 45 minute periods and I would like to incorporate a small grammar mini-lesson into my normal routine - not necessarily every day but perhaps 2 days out of the week should have a small grammar lesson. Here's what I'm looking for: 1. I'm looking for suggestions on how to teach grammar in a way that is fresh and engaging - I'm not looking to bore my students to death with rote memory drills. 2. What are some of the major grammar rules that students should know? Since most teachers neglect grammar in their instruction, I believe that it is safe to assume that my class will be the first that incorporates grammar instruction into its normal routine. 3. The main focus in my class is analyzing works of literature and with only 45 minutes this makes time precious. Suggestions on how to teach a grammar lesson on Monday and reinforce it throughout the week would be good. Does anyone have any suggestions on how to do that without killing myself with an inundation of paperwork? Basically, I'm looking for suggestions on how to incorporate Grammar into my English Classes from teachers that have done just that. Any and all suggestions are welcomed. If anyone knows any books that I could reference as well that would be great to know. Thank you.

My wife always had headaches when she smelled perfume and so she never wore any. About ten years ago this started to subside and she started wearing perfume. The problem is she started wearing perfume that seemed to be more for older ladies. She says she wants different perfume but I do not know what kind. I smell perfume on the street everyday that smells so vibrant and hip although I have no idea what it is. Can anyone offer some suggestions as to what is a great smelling youthful perfume?

God deals with evil in a very childish manner. Why do people believe we are more sinful now than everyone was in biblical times. They seem to forget about the human sacrifices, genocides, incest, and torture that happened back then, but somehow gay marriage, masturbation, and marijuana is worst. These are apparently, the reasons why God won't show is face, according to religious believers, however he had no problem doing it 2000 years ago. Please explain this logic. Is it really ok to assume God is returning, been here at all, or even exists?

I want to become vegetarian for a lot of reasons which I won't bore you with here. My mum doesn't want me to be vegetarian, though. She's a vegetarian herself, but she doesn't want me to be one yet. I've been dating this girl for a month, knew for her 3 months. We were perfect for each other in almost every way. We live a town away, but we couldn't physically be with each other too often (for various reasons we both understand). We only hanged out twice (excluding the time when I met her), but whenever we talked on the phone it was perfect. We could talk for hours. Well she called me up yesterday. She said that she was coming to visit me like we planned, but realized that "it wasn't worth it." She said she really REALLY liked me, but that a couple of days ago, she stopped liking me "in that way" and thinks that we're more like best friends than a couple. But then she said that she still feels like I'm perfect. I asked her if she still liked me as a boyfriend and she said "Yeah" but that she's not sure if it's as a friend or as a boyfriend. Regardless, we agreed to break up. I'm thinking it's because we used to talk every day and every night. Literally at the same times, too. But that's something I'll work on for any future relationships (or this one if it continues). I texted her later that day (the same day we broke up) asking her a question and she said "I really don't want to break up." She said that she was just scared to go that far by herself. And she said that she doesn't really know what she wants. She said that she's just been real moody lately. So I told her that I'll give her a couple of days of no contact and told her to think about us and about whether she wants to be together. I told her to tell me when she makes her decision, and then I'll think of whether or not I'll take her back. I feel like nobody goes from starting to fall in love to absolutely no romantic feelings at all in a matter of two days, like she claimed she did when we broke up. I told her I think we acted way too fast in breaking up, and she agreed. I guess what I'm asking is this: Was I right in giving her time to think about it? Do you think she'll realize that she actually does like me and ask to get back together? Should I take her back? I really am lost in regards to what to do...break ups aren't my specialty. My 9 year old son wears a 45-90lb life vest. He left his outside and our cat pissed on it and ruined it. Also, the zipper broke. I went to several stores and they are all sold out on his size. The only one we have that fits him is a Barbie life vest, and I don't want to humiliate him. Could he wear a t-shirt over his life vest w/o affecting the functionality of it? We were planning on being on the water all weekend and can't buy a vest online and have it shipped in time. Thanks in advance! Some automated bot has been hacking into my Hotmail and MSN account sending spam and adverts to people. I can't believe that some companies could go and make life harder for everyone else just to send some stupid advert. So now I can't sign in because Hotmail "noticed to unusual activity" from my account. So when I click to verify my account it says that "There was a problem and unfortunately, we have to ask you to sign in again. We're sorry for the inconvenience." So I go and sign in again, and the same error comes up. I've followed all their stupid advice - reset my password - contacted their "help line" But it now says: "We're unable to complete your request. Windows Live ID is experiencing technical difficulties. Please try again later." And now, here I am... still can't sign into my account. Anyone know what I can do?
