FSA Deadlines Approaching

Manhattan, Kansas, July 20, 2011 – Adrian J. Polansky, State Executive Director of USDA’s Farm Service Agency (FSA) in Kansas reminds producers of the following program deadlines..
July 29 – Final date to apply for 2009 Supplement Revenue Assistance Program (SURE)..
August 1 – Final date for nominations for the FSA County Committee election..
August 1 - Final date to request fiscal year 2011 farm combination and/or farm division for a farm with base acres..
August 1 – Final date to report spring seeded crops, CRP and NAP acreages. Prevented planting must be reported no later than 15 calendar days after the final planting date. Failed acreage must be reported before disposition of the crop..
August 31 – Final date for CRP Emergency Haying in those counties approved for emergency haying. Hay must be removed from the field within 30 days from end of the haying period. CRP participants must request emergency haying on an individual contract basis prior to haying..
September 1 – Final application closing date for 2012 Noninsured Crop Disaster Assistance Program (NAP) coverage on aquaculture, canola, Christmas trees, nursery crops, turf grass sod, and all small grain crops, except oats. NAP coverage is required on all non-insurable crops and crop insurance is required on insurance crops to remain eligible for most disaster programs..
September 30 – Final date for CRP Emergency Grazing in those counties approved for emergency grazing. All livestock must be removed by the end of this grazing period. CRP participants must request emergency grazing on an individual contract basis prior to grazing..
In order to receive USDA program payments, each payment recipient must have an Adjusted Gross Income (AGI) verification consent form on file with the Internal Revenue Service (IRS). Individuals must submit form CCC-927 and legal entities must submit form CCC-928. Without these forms on file, producers will not receive USDA program payments..
Emergency loans are available to help qualified producers in disaster designated counties recover from production and physical losses due to natural disasters. Producers have eight months after the disaster designation to apply for a loan..
Producers with livestock deaths in excess of normal mortality caused by adverse weather must file a Notice of Loss within 30 days of when loss is apparent. Proper documentation of loss must be provided..

Livestock Forage Program provides compensation to eligible livestock producers who suffer grazing losses due to qualifying drought or fire. Fire losses apply only to federally managed rangeland. County eligibility is determined by the U.S. Drought Monitor. Producers must have crop insurance or NAP coverage on the forage or grazing land..
Biomass Crop Assistance Program (BCAP) Project Area #1 with Show Me Energy Cooperative in Centerview, MO, provides financial incentives to interested farmers, ranchers and forest landowners for the voluntary establishment and production of biomass crops for conversion to heat, power, biobased products and advanced biofuels. Eligible counties in Kansas are: Atchison, Douglas, Franklin, Johnson, Jefferson, Leavenworth, Linn, Miami and Wyandotte..
