I have a year to compile an essay on "Texts in Time". This involves one novel, one poetry anthology (or selection of poems) and one third text which can be a novel or a play. For my first and third, I am doing "One Day In The Life Of Ivan Denisovich" by Aleksandr Solzhenitsyn which is a fictional story about a man in a soviet labour camp, alongside "If This Is A Man" by Primo Levi, which is autobiographical and describes his treatment in Aushwitz as an Italian Jew. If anyone can think of a particular poet or poetry anthology to compare these to (probably regarding racial/ economical/ social oppression) that would be great. There are essentially no restraints regarding which texts I study. All suggestions will be appreciated. :)

I have one brother, a sister,and a future sister plus two parents. I was born in brazil and my dad took my mom to live in California. We were happy, a little bit higher than middle class, and I was the happiest kid alive. Than when I was going to seventh grade we moves to louisana because if his job and I was devastated! I lived there for a year and they fired my dad and we were lower than middle class now which to me does not matter since I have a roof over my head and had food. Now he found a job in virgina and I'm going to 8th grade. We just got here, we are all set up, I love it here BUT I just heard we are moving again!!!! We moved in the summer and now we are moving still in the summer! You may say I'm nerdy but I'm on in for education. Don't say it's too early to think about since I'm in 8th grade. I care A LOT about college. I have made straight A's I'm reading a lot of books ( if you want to know I finished a book called how the Irish saved civilIzation and sorry i forgot the authors name). Point is College is the thing I want so badly. I've always wanted go to stanford university ever since I heard about it which was when I was eight but if that does not work out I would live to go to Georgetown! I have ten colleges I would e happy to go to. Any way I know that no college wants someone who moves a lot! I mean I cant keep joining swim teams! I want to be steady through out high school and now we are movin again. I want to live with my grandma in Chicago but my parents said no and yeah it might be stupid but I rather live with her in Chicago and she can raise me I bet. What should I do and please no stupid comments I want some advice:/

There is a guy who used to date my mom, but no longer do... Anyways im still friends with him and he always want to do something with me when ever he is home from iraq or Afghanistan, which is fine. but it seems like a lot more than usual... He took me out to dinner once on my 18th birthday and that was it. but when he come back the next time which was a year later he took me shopping for christmas, and then he wanted to get together again, so we did and he wanted to do something again... When ever im with him he always jokes that we are on a date and tells me if he were 20 yrs younger he would be knocking on my door. He even asked me if it was weird that he says that... Also he told me he liked my hair and I look older or more mature since he saw me last... We usually go to the movies when we hang out. and he always puts his hand on my knee or kind of leans on me... Also he hugs me which I understand cause I usually don't see him years at a time, its just this one time he hugged me and we were done hugging and he grabbed me again and hugged me and he ran his hand down my back, like almost down to my butt... He also wanted to take me to Vegas the next time he was down. but it didn't happen. He has a couple of kids himself. So I don't know why he only wanted to take me... I don't want to have sex with him especially since im sure he has slept with my mom and I am 19 and he is like 50... Am I just paranoid or does he want to sleep with me? I still want to be friends with him but I don't want to sleep with him.

I know the media portrays only girls being able to be bi or all girls are bi. That's not the case though. Kinsey has already shown that guys are really twice as likely to be bi/gay than girls. Other studies have suggested recently that guys are still more likely to be bi/gay than girls or engage in homosexual experimentation. You could see this with all the craigslist ads for M4M and the "down low."Straight guys having sex with guys has been reported to be at 10% and that's by those who answered. Even though society doesn't accept it, there's actually more bi guys out there than girls, but most are extremely hidden.

've been friends with her for three years. She's had a boyfriend for two years, about 6 months ago we really hit it off one night and have been seeing each other on a regular basis since. She told me she would break up with her boyfriend when the time was right, and she just broke up with him today. My problem is that I know she has been spending a lot of time with and has slept with another guy for at least the last month. She does not know that I'm aware of this and has been hiding it from me every time I've dropped hints that I know. Normally, I'd take the hint and just stop seeing the girl, but I've grown very close to this one. She still acts like she likes me, we have still been seeing each other since the other guy came into the picture. It's just weird that she left her boyfriend so soon after seeing him. Should I put a foot down and let her know that I'm aware and ask her to make a choice? Or should I just accept things as they are and keep her as a friends with benefits and try to avoid emotional attachment? Thanks so much for your advice.

Okay so this summer things have been going really weird for me.... i don't know why but i've been eating paper , any kind of paper , tissues and rubber and walls , i live in a apartment so our main door to the building recently had a renovation and they changed doors and Wallpaper...or well wall- dye-or-whatever- but still the you can scratch off the wall dye so i always do that when im alone and eat it.. and i eat anything these days... that you don't eat , like flour and flowers and stuff like that and im 13 btw and i don't know why i do it, maybe because i feel so lonely and i never really have anything to do these days cuz i refuse to see my friends....don't know why

Would you wear a helmet when skateboarding? I told some people I was thinking of wearing a helmet in school and I get called immediately a pansy and pussy. I was told an accident like that would never happen to me, and that I shouldn't live my life in fear. I don't mind if they are preachy in a good way like when your really sick and they start talking about religion in a good way but I hate all the people who try to force religion on me. I'm Christian but I'm not very religios. I'm gay also so you know most Christian people always try to do all that your going to he'll stuff. I really hate Christian people who hate anybody different it's my life so stop trying to force your lifestyle onto me! I'm friends with alot of people with different religions so we just don't talk about it unless we ask about thir religion. Why do alot of Christian people always have to force their views onto others? For example I was in a furniture store the other day and it's owned by super religious people. Then a women walks in and she had one of thoughs things on that means she is a Muslim or something. Then the store owner comes over to her and starts a huge fight about how she Is going to he'll if she doesn't except god. That's not even the first time I have seen people do stuff like that! I have noticed that alot more Christians push their lifestyle onto others than any other kind of people. I mean I never try to push my gayness onto others and I'm very carefull not to show it if I think it will cause problems but Christians still fight me about it if they ever find out. Why are some Christian people like this?

I am trying to sort out a problem on my website involving HTML and CSS. I have set up using CSS a version of the HTML tooltip for links, which appears over to the side of the page, using this code: a.soldleft2[title]:hover:before{content: attr(title); position: absolute; left: 45px; top: 500px; width: 10em; font-size: normal; border: 5px solid; font-family: arial; background: white;} (In the original code it reads {content COLON attr(title); at the end of the first line, but this didn't publish on the question properly.) The problem is that when a link is close to where this "CSS tooltip" appears, the original HTML tooltip covers it, making it unreadable. Basically, I'm asking if there is a way to layer the "CSS tooltip" above the HTML tooltip? (P.S. I know CSS tooltip probably isn't the right term, but I didn't know what else to call it.)

I am 17, 5'3 and 128 pounds. I have gained a few pounds recently. I am getting my senior pictures taken in a few weeks and I would like to lose some weight to look better in the pictures. How long should I drink orange juice and water for & could I eat some raw vegetables too? How much weight do you think I could lose before my pictures, is 15 pounds possible?? Is it possible to keep the weight off once I start eating again?
