ok, so when i realized my crock pot was too small for all i had i put the roast in a pot on the stove (electric range). my plan was to have it on high for just a few min and then put on low for the remaining time. i started the time at 6 hours. i walked away and my 8 month old destracted me... i heard it start to bubble over and realized that about 30 min had passed! the veggies are already softening and the meat feels tough when i poked it with a fork, i have it on the warm setting now... am i screwed. will the veggies be mush and if i keep in on low will the meat tender up?? or is whats done, done? :*( so sad.

I am 20 and currently taking college classes. I am a registered EMT and firefighter. I am interested in the medical field and I am considering the military to get my PA training done. The military has always been a consideration of mine and becoming a PA has always been my goal. Is the military a good option for this? Is the training transferable to the civilian life? Do i already need to have a degree before joining? Finally, which branch is the best for this? I have done a lot of research, but i am still coming up short of answers. Thank you for your time!

One of my friends is an independent author. She wrote a book called 'Pulse of Heroes' and last night somebody pirated it. My friend is devastated because she went through a lot to write and publish it; now me and my other friend Charlie are talking about whether indie authors should have their own union, but we don't know if there already is one. If there isn't one, we plan to set one up ourselves. So what writers' unions are there? I already know about the WGA (whose strike was pretty humiliating if you ask me), but if we start our own we want it to be global for all indie authors. Also, how do you 'start' a union? (Just in case we do decide to start it)

He's a really good friend of mine and I've been crazy about him for ages. For a while it seemed like he liked me too. But then I messed up and he got a girlfriend. Apparently some minority leaders have suggested that entrance exams are biased toward white students. I would like to know what higher levels of educational and motivational factors have to do with race or racial equality. This is the same thing as saying that unless the standards are lowered minorities won't be able to compete. It suggests that minorities are less intelligent or motivated than white students. Is this a minority admission of intellectual inequality? That is that they are indeed not capable of competing on an equal basis? One of the problems this country is facing is that we are losing ground in education and etc. as they relate to other countries. Too many times the educational and professional standards have been lowered to accommodate minorities. Doing so is not the answer. The best fix is to provide the highest level of education to ALL citizens without qualification. And that means doing so at the K-12 schools. It certainly is NOT lowering standards and curriculum of colleges and universities so that mediocre students can compete with higher level students.
