[ Higher Education (University +) ] Open Question : Is there any chance that I'd get into NYU?

I'm, technically, now a senior and I'll be applying to colleges early in the fall.. I have a 3.8 GPA with a 24 :/ on the ACT. I will be taking the ACT once more with writing. I usually do well with timed writing. My senior classes are Physics, AP Calculus AB and BC, AP English IV, Government, Yearbook (Editor), and Art II. I've already taken Art I and III and somehow I was able to take art II. I volunteer at my library, I was one of a few that started a group within the library to create events for youth. I did tutoring until school got out, and I'm most likely about to start volunteering at a pretty known local music venue. I should be in the top twenty at my school and I'll be in Beta. I'm aware that the average range for the ACT is from 29-32. And that they only accept about 38%. I just wanted to hear your opinions. So, knowing all this information is there any chance I could get accepted?

I just noticed that most of the names on my list are names that are usually surnames (last names). Some include Jackson, Jensen, Sawyer, & Jameson. There are others that aren't on my list, like Scott & Morgan. Do you have any names that you'd consider using as first names although they're actually last names?

i found a profile of my husband on this affair website his screen name is the name of the tattoo on his back but has also been the screen name for other things and he goes by that name his password is his prison id number which he uses on other things as well i read some messages and it sounds like the way he talks it's during the hrs that he works he "swears" that someone hacked into his info somewhere somehow and created this profile "it wasn't him" he says. we had our main security for our computer expire for 2 days even though we had back up through windows it said that we had 69 tracking cookies (whatever that is) so he's blaming that i'm calling bullshit cause this has happened along the same lines before over the past 12 yrs what do you all think could what he said possibly happen or is he a liar and cheater

The issue: I was recently at a rally. I had a sign that expressed my views, but was not in any way offensive. A lot of people had signs, but I was not aware that they were not allowed. An officer yells at me and asks me "why do you have a sign? What part of no signs do you not understand, how retarded are you!?" He snatched it from me, tore it up and said "If I ever catch you with a sign again, you're going to regret it for a long time." Um, excuse me, but it was totally unnecessary for him to be so rude. I would have complied just the same if he was polite. The only differences is I would not have lost respect for him. I go so far out of my way to be polite to people, so I have a zero tolerance policy for unnecessary rudeness. Being a police officer is absolutely not a license to be rude for no reason what so ever. If I failed to comply, I can understand his actions, but he was rude from the get go. Since I determined that the officer was out of line, I went in to file a complaint to say that he was unprofessional. One of the officers who gave me the complaint form asked if I wanted to speak to the supervisor. I did. The supervisor was no better. The supervisor said "so he asked you not to have a prop that you were not supposed to have, and you want to blame HIM? and you have no proof that he did it?? Is this a joke??" Getting angry, I said "no this is not a joke, I pay an arm and a leg in taxes, and I am a law abiding citizen, and as such, I expect to be treated with a little respect. The officer did not do that, and I expect you to take action. If you want me to have any respect for your force, you will do whatever you can to correct the actions of scumbag officers" Am I missing something here? Why was this cop so rude, and why was his supervisor siding with him?? Officers may have a dangerous job, but that is no excuse to be rude to people for something so petty as having a sign.

Okay so I have a jailbroken iPod Touch with the AndroidLock XT tweak to replace to original passcode lock. You know how if you get the pattern wrong if makes you wait 30 seconds? Well does anybody know if you can increase that waiting time so it increases when you keep getting it wrong? Like the original passcode where it's like 30 seconds, a minute, 2 minutes, etc...? Please Help. Or if not, are there any other kind of locks?

I'm going to try and give you the basic outline and the "big" details. I met a girl, at school. She had her heart broken. I liked her. She liked me. Three weeks after "talking" she tells me she "can't do this". Which majorly sucks, because I really liked her. I never really gave up. Months go by. Small fights and points of saying "screw off" to each other. We'd always end up talking some how. One time, she kissed me on my cheek for a birthday present and I got butterflies. when I got home she said it was nothing major to her and she felt nothing. This is the part where I had my heart broken, for the first time EVER. I never knew it actually felt like your heart broke... I want to cry just thinking of how much pain it was. I kept on trying for her though. Did many sweet things. Was there for her. One day, she tells me she still loves her Ex. Mind you, this is 5 months after he dumped her.. OVER E-MAIL. I flipped on that and that made us "Split" as friends for a few days, until we talked at the local fair and started being friends again... Anyways... I suppose I eventually got her to like me and we've been dating for 4 weeks and she tells me she is in love with me and sorry for hurting me in the past. You think I should be happy now? Well I'm not that happy. I don't feel much anymore. I'm worried that my "inner" self can't love her like I used to. I'd do anything for her. Here is where I need you your help. Do you think I will "trust" her again? I trust her around other guys and what not but actually trust her with my heart? Will my feelings for her become stronger as our relationship progresses? Anyone been in this situation? On either side of my story (my side, or her side) Thank you for your advice.

It crawled out from under my window curtain. It's body was about an inch and the leg span was another half an inch. It was a THICK spider, fat.. and it was black with HAIR. I tried getting a close look but it started crawling away kinda fast. It didn't move "that" fast. It had some eyes lined in the front with maybe a brown vertical stripe on it's back. I felt terrible about doing it but I wasn't sure if it was poisonous so I killed it with a shoe. Im just curious why people say that using ice on swelling has no affect after the first 48 hrs or so? I had my wisdom teeth pulled 5 days ago and had been very swollen since. I had barely used ice like I was suppose to the first two days so this morning I used it all morning and the swelling is almost all gone. Also I had a bad injury over ten years ago (yes over ten years ago) that never healed properly. Some months ago I used ice on it for days and all that inflammation that had been there over a decade started to decrease. So is it possible that its just a myth that ice only works initially? Heat does absolutely nothing for me. Another thing people say is never use lotion as mosturizer to your face but thats the only thing that works for me and my complexion is near perfect. Whenever I use a real facial mosturizer I break out. Could that also be a myth?

So I really like this boy at School. It's getting me so frustrated! We sit next to each other in a few lessons and we always talk and laugh around. He's always surprised when I look interested and when I ask him what he was about to say. We relate to each other quite a lot, so we have good conversations. I'm not sure if he knows I like him, because I kind of told him I like him through an inside joke. But he also said it back! And he still does over Facebook, it's rare though, but I don't know if that's a coincidence. Also he never wishes people happy birthday on Facebook, but he did to me! Again, I don't know if that's a coincidence. Once we were in music, we had a supply teacher, and someone said 'Can you move tables please?' But he said very quickly 'No, don't move. You're my friend. :)' I also find him looking at me too in class, when we're not sat near each other. I always smile massively when I see him looking and he does too. In Maths and when I'm talking to my friend, who sits next to me, she always says that he's looking and listening in. We were in P.E on Wednesday and I was playing around in the goals and he kept saying 'Can I have a go!' Then when people weren't passing him the ball, he was repeating it. He then got it and I said 'Please do it softly!' And then he said 'Okay, I will for you!' Then about 10 minutes later a little accident happened and we were all laughing. Then I noticed him looking at me laughing, which was rather embarrassing as I'm so self-conscious over my laugh! Every time a few of us are talking, he won't be really listening but when I speak he always puts his head up to listen to what I've got to say. A funny moment was when I was going to play a Badminton competition and I had to walk past him and his friends playing Football. I was wearing my school shorts and he looked up and said 'Look at Annalie!' He was trying to tease me and was jokingly laughing. Okay, so anyways. I've started to reallllly like him and I don't know what to do. Do I just leave everything? I cannot tell him I like him at all because I'm really shy and it won't feel right, he's the same really. Maybe I'll try our inside joke thing, but it's hard to fit it in to normal conversation. How do I sneakily tell him and kind of flirt but not in a powerful way? I've memorised him for a while now, how can he not notice! I've started to have dreams about him now, is that weird?! Please help me! Any tips what so ever that you may have? Like on EVERYTHING you can think of! Thank-you so much.

They just toss it into the dumpster, a trash can on our porch, or the pet waste removal bins around our apartment complex. Is that alright since it's in a baggie anyways? I have been cheating on my girlfriend for over a year and am really good at hiding it. But a couple of weeks ago she called me to tell me she was getting off work early. I had a girl at our apartment, so we had to rush her out before my gf got home. Turns out that she left some things at the apartment - including some makeup and her stockings. I completely panicked and told her that they were mine and that I was crossdressing. I've never ever been into crossdressing and have never worn a piece of woman's clothing a day in my life, but she totally believed me. She was cool about it, almost too happy. She told me she felt like it brought us closer together, whatever that means. So here's my problem: she's been buying me more women's clothing and makeup and expecting me to wear them around the apartment for the past two weeks. I've felt so guilty that I've agreed to do it and acted as though I liked it. Yesterday I told her I didn't want to do it anymore, but she got upset and told me that she didn't want me to keep stuff from her. I don't even know what that means! Please, someone tell me what I can do to get over this situation. Coming clean is not an option - she will definitely dump me and I can't let that happen. So no, I won't tell her no matter what. I'm not going to cheat on her anymore and I guess I'm ok with her thinking I crossdress (eww), but I can't stand dressing up like this anymore. I feel like my masculinity is fading away :( And please don't laugh, I'm really embarrassed about the crossdressing. She had me shave my legs and I actually look exactly like a real girl. I'm freaking out. I asked this before in a different section. But all the chicks there weren't helpful at all. instead they just whined about how im a bad person for cheating followed by lots of laughter. i figured id get better luck by posting in a section that more guys are on. Like I see.. so many local bands that become higher in statues but have no good judge of character and they do bad things to people and have no morals or ethics at all, but then they think its funny to belittle a make fun of other people to give them a sense of superior sense of self worth, but they're cocky and arrogant and think they're better other people, do you think they will get away with being famous or do you think they will crash and burn? My dad said they fall even harder and are humiliated against thousands of people and destroyed by the media with not have good ethics and morals with treating other people with respect, like an example: Kittie! They went bankrupt and are nasty people who can't keep a band together and kept breaking up and hated god, now.. they're nothing but made fun of and no one listens to their music at all. So, I'm a firm believer of karma!
