Hi everyone!Hope all is well with you!It has been already 2 months since the earthquake happened. Even though we might not hear much about it on the news any more, many people are having very difficult time in the damaged areas. It's very easy for all of us to forget and move on. This is my personal feeling, but I don't want to say "don't forget about Japan" to you. But I would love you to witness how we recover from the big damage. The earthquake and Tsunami destroyed Japan physically, but not spiritually. The aftershocks and the unstable condition of the nuclear plant are shaking our spirits, but we will recover. RUN for Japan has been successful as a fundraiser(about $18000 has been raised with over 450 participants),and your presence at each event has been a great support for Japanese people. We, runners, know that it's hard to run further or faster when you are alone. But when you have friends with you, it becomes easier and sometimes you can achieve what you have never imagined you would be able to. This is what RUN for Japan is for me(and I believe for all Japanese runners). Because of your support, I know that Japan is NOT ALONE. Thank you for being there for us!! After RUN for Japan #2, we decided to reconsider how to use the donations you have handed us. The reasons are1) we now can get a lot more information directly from the damaged areas.2) we believe that there are things that can be done only by small group like us.After discussions, we made a decision that I would like to share today. We are going to send running shoes to Ishinomaki City(Miyagi prefecture).
★Why shoes?Because we all need shoes in our daily lives, and they don't last forever.Especially for children, their feet grow so fast that they need new shoes very often.
★Why Ishinomaki?Because Ms Kosugi who has been participating RUN for Japan is from Ishinomaki, Miyagi Prefecture. (One of the hardest hit by the earthquake and the massive Tsunamis)She has provided us information about the city, and connected us to the organization who will accept our donation. (Usually, this is the difficult part when you try to send donations) Very Very fortunately, we could get help to purchase shoes for less than retail price, and also ship them to Ishinomaki. We would like to ask your continuous support so that we can send more help in near future. So. WE ARE RUNNING AGAIN!!Here is the information for "RUN for Japan #3"We are looking forward to seeing and running with you all.We look forward to seeing you on Sun, May 29th !
Sincerely,Ayako YamazakiOn behalf of DoSoKai
